The KGBL MK1 (Kinef Glass Brick Light) is a sculptural ambient light object that merges industrial materiality with soft atmospheric illumination. Handcrafted around the visual language of architectural glass brick, the KGBL MK1 transforms a familiar construction element into a refined lighting piece designed for contemporary interiors, listening spaces, studios, and design focused environments.
Built with a minimalist industrial approach, the KGBL MK1 emits a warm, diffused glow that enhances spatial atmosphere without overpowering it. A precision rotary control allows for smooth brightness adjustment, enabling the light to shift effortlessly from subtle evening ambience to functional accent illumination. Integrated into the control system is a tactile switching mechanism that allows the user to power the light on or off while also cycling between multiple LED color temperatures: 1800K, 3000K, 7000K, or blended combinations between them. This flexibility allows the KGBL MK1 to adapt to different moods, times of day, and interior settings.
A defining feature of the KGBL MK1 is its interchangeable glass brick system. Different glass bricks can be swapped to introduce unique colors, textures, and internal light diffraction patterns, allowing each piece to create a distinct atmospheric character. From subtle diffusion to more expressive refracted lighting effects, the modular glass elements encourage experimentation and personalization within the space.
Every unit is assembled and finished by hand, embracing small imperfections and material character as part of its identity. The combination of textured glass, soft light diffusion, and exposed industrial detailing creates an object that feels both utilitarian and atmospheric, somewhere between lighting instrument, architectural artifact, and design piece.
